Trace the outlines and patterns and try to recreate the look. Then alter the looks and try to improve upon them. 2. 2 Take design classes. These are offered at community colleges, trade and vocational schools. Learn how to draw, construct and even sew. Being able to do all aspects of the fashion process will help you throughout your career. 3. 3 Start designing and making clothes, accessories and other items. Set up a website to show off your designs as well as sell your items. You can sell one-of-a-kind items, make on-demand pieces or designs and complete lines. These can also be sold on sites such as eBay and other auction websites. 4. 4 Talk to local shop owners about selling your items in their stores through a consignment deal. Or if you have the financial backing, open your own boutique. You can also design these items and hire other people to make them and then sell them, to make back your investment as well as a profit.
5. 5 Continue designing and creating. As you start to have a following, you will begin to be noticed and eventually be called to design for another designer or create something for a well-known individual.
